PC/PE alloys are manufactured by mechanical blending. The dried PC and PE are added to a mixer equipped with an insulation device to mix evenly. Then they are transferred into the extruder hopper. The temperature of the extruder barrel is controlled at around 290℃. After melt extrusion, cooling and pelletizing, the product is obtained.
The addition of polyethylene to polycarbonate is mainly to reduce the melt viscosity of polycarbonate and improve its molding processing performance. The melt viscosity of PC/PE alloy can be reduced by one third, thus lowering its molding processing temperature. In addition, PC/PE alloys also have the following characteristics:
The notch impact strength of polycarbonate has been improved, and its notch impact strength is four times higher than that of polycarbonate.
2. The chemical resistance of polycarbonate has been enhanced, with the flexural strength in carbon tetrafluoride increasing by more than 50%.
3. The resistance to boiling water has been enhanced. After being immersed in boiling water at 00℃ for 240 hours, its tensile and bending strengths remain almost unchanged.
4. It has excellent aging resistance. After being exposed to the sun outdoors for two years, its tensile and bending strengths remain almost unchanged, and its impact strength is four times higher than that of polycarbonate.
